22 Because of the Lord’s faithful love
we do not perish,[a]
for his mercies never end.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness!
24 I say, “The Lord is my portion,
therefore I will put my hope in him.” (Lamentations 2:22-24 CSB)
This is a beautiful passage out of a book that may not get a lot of attention. It is a collection of poetic laments for the destruction of Jerusalem. But there are many beautiful passage like this one contained there.
It is easy to take portions of the Bible and not assign much value because they seem tedious or very removed from the current world. But the Bible is rich with wisdom and beauty. It is a story that spans a great period of time and tells us the stories of many famous Biblical characters. They are also stories of law and love.
The many passages like this one are found to speak to us at just the right time. As we prepare for Easter coming in a few days we are reminded that the Lord is our portion. His faithfulness is great and His mercy is never ending. How could it be when He sent His one and only son to die for our sins!?
