109 Though I constantly take my life in my hands,
I will not forget your law. (Psalm 119:109 NIV)
There are two operative parts of our short verse today.
“I constantly take my life in my hands.” Can you relate to this? I know I can. We continually try to do life our way and may continually find we screw it up. When God is not in front of us we tend to leave Him behind. Do our own thing. Go our own way.
“Though….I will not forget your law.” I do not like making any change to scripture, but I think the though in our scripture is implied in the second part of the verse. While we may be continually making our own decisions, if we will keep scripture in mind and the precepts by which God wants us to live before us, we can live in a better way.
The first part of this scripture should almost be a lament but the second part a promise we make and keep to ourselves.
Every part of scripture can help us see and live our lives in a better way, we just have to consider where we place the “though”.
