The Letter

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are Christ’s letter, delivered[a] by us, not written with ink but with the Spirit of the living God—not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. (2 Corinthians 3:2-3 CSB)

Your life is a letter God has written upon your heart. How you live it shows whether the letter is written deeply or shallowly.

That letter too should be easily read by anyone we meet. It should be so manifest in our lives that we are an open book. Even if some of our chapters are dark and stormy, God uses them to tell His story to others. He shows through how we live now that how we lived has no remaining power over us.

The letter of our lives is filled with many very different chapters. We may not like them all, but they are the fabric of our lives. We can choose to use each chapter as a stepping stone or a stone that drags us down. But once God begins writing the chapters the stones that drug us down should be so much lighter. The stepping stones, we will see, are all taking us closer to God and His plan for the letter He is writing.

We choose each day what letter is being penned in our lives. God gives us that choice. But how much better the letter that God writes than the one we struggle to complete on our own? How much better the letter others read in our lives the one God has penned.
