17 Because God wanted to show his unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, he guaranteed it with an oath, 18 so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us. (Hebrews 6:17-18 CSB)
It can be easy to forget that God is unchangeable. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. But in the ever changing world we live in it can be hard to grasp the unchangeable.
Part of this has to do with the fact that every part of our lives are in a constant state of flux. The business world is a fickle place that is all about the next deal, the better thing, the next growth strategy. Family dynamics can also be an ever changing landscape of highs and lows. Even our bodies are changing daily as we age and may find ourselves dealing with capabilities that change because we improve ourselves or due to injury.
Very little is actually stable.
Thus, we look to an unchangeable God who will not abandon us when the winds of change come into our lives. A God who has made promises that have not changed since he made them and continues to desire our best in life based on those promises.
We may not know what tomorrow will bring, but we can know that our God will be there for us through it all.
