10 Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Take the lead in honoring one another. 11 Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit;[a] serve the Lord. (Romans 12:10-11 CSB)

We are to help those around us, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ. But, really, everybody fits into the category of being deserving of our assistance and we must do so with zeal.

I get it, we all have busy lives, I am the chief among sinners here. Turning aside from that busy life to step into the life of another and help can be time consuming, mentally and spiritually exhausting. However, if they are like me, they have not asked for help soon enough and may be at the end of their rope. We may never know just how badly a brother or sister needed our attention. 

When we take time to honor one another by giving of ourselves, we are showing them Christ love and our love for them. We should have a deep love for doing so and heeding God’s call for another. 

There will come a time when we ourselves need to be reached out to in love by a brother or sister. You may be in such a time right now and hesitant to reach out. Do not be! Talk to a brother and open yourself so that they can be there for you and pray for you. 

If we do not have each other’s back, no one else will.
