79 to shine on those who live in darkness
and the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace. (Luke 1:79 CSB)
I believe everyone should find a piece of scripture that speaks so deeply to them that they live their life by it. In effect it becomes their mission statement. Today’s scripture is mine.
When I read, and reread this short verse of scripture it spoke to me on many levels. It spoke to me about how my life needed to reflect Christ. How, so many I meet are living in darkness, whether saved or unsaved. How those that are unsaved are also living in the shadow of death. How I could, by how I lived and what I wrote, in some small way, guide others to the way of peace, which is through belief and salvation in Christ.
Further I worked this in to a mantra that is a reminder of this scripture in short and spoke to the desire for my life; “To Shine on all I meet, to Create, to Embody and to Guide.”
I do this because I need something to focus on. I know how distracted from God’s mission I can get. I am a workaholic and it makes me lose my focus on anything that is not work. I try to make myself look at this each and every day so I never forget the mission God has given me. Using my creativity, shining on others, embodying Christ life, guiding others in any way I can.
I chose this namely because it opens up a plethora of avenues for God to work through my life. I just have to be diligent to hold up my end of the bargain and truly live this way, which I am not always good at. However, this is my ministry and it manifest itself in many ways in my life.
But heaven knows I try.
