7 A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: (1 Corinthians 4:7 CSB)
If you have been involved in a church for any length of time you probably heard about or took some type of Spiritual Gifts program. They have been very popular over the years and people do need to search and best understand the manifestation of the Spirit in their lives.
This was, for me, a very personal journey. One that took me many years to properly understand fully. And I went through a number of trial and error segments until I feel like I now have a decent grasp on what God wants of me. However, even so, I never settle too seriously upon one thing because our God is a god of changing seasons. It may be that you continue to use your core gift, but God manifest more opportunities to better utilize it or more gifts as we use the ones we have.
What God calls us to is rarely one and done.
You see, God can lead us to stepping stones within our gift that leads to new gifts. He may call us to write, or to serve in one way then show us how our personalities fit within a group that does something totally different. Or we may start in a group setting and find that we have a personal gift that allows us to serve others individually.
We must not get so wrapped up in serving in one way as to not be open to serving in another. God is continually putting divine opportunities in front of us. He wants us to use the stepping stones of our faith and our maturity to minister to others and show His love to everyone possibly in many different ways.
