The Proper Time

Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. (Galatians 6:9 CSB)

Are you patient? I am not. Nothing seems to happen quickly enough for me. I am very driven and as such, I tend to try to make things happen myself rather than wait for the proper time. This can be a good trait in business, but it can also lead to having an Atlas Complex as I noted to some colleagues recently.

God’s timing is perfect. It may not seem so to those of us who are impatient, but make no mistake, His timing works to our good. However, this can often only be seen in hindsight. Thus, while we wait we may think that taking things into our own hands is best.

It rarely is.

But we cannot tire of doing good. Even if the reward for doing so is not seen in our lifetime. It may be that the good we do now is not manifest in this life until much later on. So we may have to simply do good and hope for the best. This can be daunting for someone who is outcome driven. We may just have to accept God’s timing and not give up on doing what is good and right.

Perseverance is a trait of a strong faith life that we must foster by waiting upon God with the knowledge that He is working toward the best outcome, at the proper time.
