15 A fool’s way is right in his own eyes,
but whoever listens to counsel is wise. (Proverbs 12:15 CSB)
Finding and holding on to wise counsel to help guide our lives is invaluable. Yes, the Holy Spirit is there to provide guidance as well. But having a few wise and trusted advisors in our corner never hurts.
You see, the world seeks it’s own truth and that truth is typically not from God.
So having people who love God and can help provide wise counsel when needed will help us navigate this life well. They can keep us honest and point out where we might be following our own path or being led astray by what the world has to offer.
Wise counsel, too, is something to be given. Maybe you are mature in your faith and have gained some years of experience. You have much to give to others from the wisdom you walk in. We should not only seek wise counsel for our selves but be willing to give it when asked. This counsel, if we are truly wise, is peppered with prayer and follows scriptural truths, it is not just our opinion. Opinions are fallible, scripture is not.
Thus, as we accept wise counsel or as we give it, we must recognize the giver of such gifts. Acknowledging and giving praise to God in heaven for His wise provision.
