7 The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and rescues them.
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good.
How happy is the person who takes refuge in him! (Psalm 34:7-8 CSB)
The devotional I was reading this morning from In Touch Ministries had this to say that I thought was good to pass along.
Next time you’re feeling disheartened, turn your focus to God and pray three things aloud: Thank Him for being with you through the discouragement, admit He’s in control of your life, and acknowledge that He loves you and is working circumstances for good.
The thread that is woven in this prayer is one of thankfulness and acknowledgement. God is in control, no matter how out of control our lives may feel. This is something we need to firmly fix in our minds. Nothing happens without His hand being involved.
Now, you may say, “where is free will in this?”
I would say, “How is that free will working for you?”
God does provide us free will, but too He knows where every one of our decisions will take us before we make them. Remember, our God is omniscient. He knows all, He is all, nothing happens apart from Him. Even the bad things that God allows.
Thus, when we take refuge in God we are going to the source of all things. We are in the arms of the God of miracles and outcomes. The God of all love and all mercy and all grace. Even if times are bad, we have the God who loves in our corner.
