14 They all were continually united in prayer,[a] (Acts 1:14a CSB)
Are you united with someone in prayer? Do you regularly meet with others to study, praise and pray to God? We are called to be united in more than this as well. But sadly, most of the time, we are not.
In a world that is so desperately divided we should be a beacon in the darkness. Our unity should be something that sets us apart and makes others desire to be united with us.
But divisiveness exist in the church as well. So much divides us and it seems as if this just increases every day and creates animosity where ever it touches.
I am not here to say that I do a great job of loving everyone. There are people I do not like, but I strive to not treat them ill. I strive to be a person of unity and love even when someone is attacking me directly. Is this easy? No, nor is it my nature. I have never been one to have issue with conflict. I even see some conflict as needed, necessary and healthy.
But this requires a mindset of unity. To wade into conflict not with the attitude we must win. But with the attitude that we must reconcile and love in the process.
It is possible to be in conflict and not end up divided.
