Carved Up

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. (James 4:8a CSB)

I woke up tired today. Seems odd to wake up tired. I know it was because my mind never really slept last night. It never found its peace so slumber could really do its job. Part of it is coming off of a string of stressful days and part of it is not drawing nearer to God to find my rest in His peace.

Do you do this? Do you get so wrapped up in all you have going on that you do not take time to draw near to God? It would seem with me writing these every morning that I should be pretty regularly in God’s presence. But, I suppose, like many I go about my day and my morning quite time just flows into the hectic nature of my day. My morning peace is fleeting.

Taking time to draw near to God more than once a day is the key, and I know that. Practice what you preach, right!

But I don’t have time!

Well, when we carve up our day’s into small blocks of time set aside for God, our days tend to order themselves. Our stress is lightened and our focus is sharper. I know this and yet far too often do not live it.
