Sold Out

15….. So they weighed out thirty pieces of silver for him. 16 And from that time he started looking for a good opportunity to betray him. (Matthew 26:15b-16 CSB)

There are two definitions to being sold out. One positive and one negative. And today, I would ask which are you?

Judas sold out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Having watched Jesus miracles, listened to His teachings and living with the Savior he sold out in the worst possible way.

When we come to a belief in Christ we may have a period of time when we are totally sold out on Jesus. We become hyper-vigilant about our new faith and scrutinize our every thought and deed.

But staying sold out to Christ requires diligence that can wain over time. We find ourselves taking a piece of silver here and a piece of silver there. We sell out portions of who we are to the enemy by compromising our faith. Our faith is low on quantities, but not completely sold out one way or the other, we are lukewarm.

This is where the daily renewing of our minds is so important. Why it is so important that we take every thought captive. If not, we find ourselves taking silver from the enemy and selling out piece by piece.
