Busyness or Busy

42 Therefore be alert, since you don’t know what day[a] your Lord is coming. (Matthew 24:42 CSB)

Ask yourself a question; Are you truly busy, or do you just act busy?

Now, this may seem like a bit of a harsh question, but truly think about it. Far too often we look at a day full of meetings or other busy work and think to ourselves; how overworked I am.

Oh, you believe that this constitutes being a truly busy person with all that you do throughout the day. But are you really getting anything done, or are you just shuffling priorities. It is really easy to get into the habit of just shuffling things around and not really getting the important things accomplished.

This is ever more true when it comes to our work for God. We should be at the Lord’s task every day. Looking to make some progress for the Kingdom. So that when the Lord returns we are being alert and doing our best for Him. Yes, it is important to do meaningful things for our families and our jobs. But how much more important is it when Christ returns that we are also working toward spreading the Good News.

Or are we just being busy for the sake of busyness?
