24 Blind guides! You strain out a gnat, but gulp down a camel! (Matthew 23:24 CSB)
Are we too focused upon the small and insignificant to see the greater issues at hand?
I think we probably are. We look at the byproduct without realizing the root cause. Our lives run along somewhat chaotically and we are so wrapped up in the minutia of it that we do not even look at the bigger picture. We major in the minors.
No matter how we cut it we are to seldom focused upon God’s plan for our lives. We have mapped out our course, our career, our family, our friends, or even our retirement. We are focused upon our goals. And there is nothing wrong with having personal goals.
But how much of God exist in our goals, our plans? How much have we set aside for time with Him. He desires a personal relationship with each of us. And if we do not set aside this time how can we hope to know where He is leading?
I have written on this aspect of our faith lives quite a lot. Probably because I need as much reminding, maybe more, than everyone else. I get too focused on me, to focused on straining out the gnat.
God wants a place in every aspect of our lives. If we allow Him to enter into the small things He will assuredly occupy the great things.
