10 I rejoice greatly in the Lord,
I exult in my God;
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation
and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness,
as a groom wears a turban
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. (Isaiah 61:10 CSB)
Do we truly rejoice in the new garments Christ has given us through His salvation? Or are we wandering around in the same old soiled garments from our past lives?
When we accept Christ we are cleansed and are to put on a new self, the righteous robe of God. But how long does this last? How soon does that new feeling go away and we start to slide into old behaviors.
Or if you came to Christ early in life it can be easy to let the continual drain of the day to day pull us back into wrong behavior. We can put on our old soiled garments again and begin living like before.
The world does not make it easy to keep our new garments of salvation clean. Nor does our sinful nature. We are creatures of habit, and old habits are hard to break and tend to come back with a vengeance.
Thus, this takes a continual renewing of our minds on right things and not allowing ourselves to slip into old behaviors or habits. We must stay vigilant on living a joyful life in Christ. Telling others and making His story known and how it has impacted our lives, living out the Great Comission.
But too, we can know that should we soil our new garments, Christ blood will wash them clean again.
