23 …. because the Lord was with him, and the Lord made everything that he did successful. (Genesis 39:23b CSB)
When talking about our successes in life, how many of us reflect on them in this way?
Some may, but mostly we think that success comes at our own hand. That we have gotten where we are through hard work, determination and self sufficiency.
How deluded we are.
If we began looking at every positive aspect of our lives as coming from God and not ourselves, we could begin to live the humble lives God meant.
Even within our ministry we can become very self centered and begin to believe that it is we and not God who reach others. That we are somehow and in some way the reason people are won to Christ. That we are more than just the planter of seeds that Christ then waters and makes grow.
Success is a self-deluding drug. Wealth and fortune can be the same. It is only when we humble ourselves and see that it is the Lord that makes everything we do successful.
Whether successful or not we need to look at the fact that God is in everything.
