The Right Measure

Therefore, we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me? (Hebrews 13:6 CSB)

We can spend much of our time concerned over what others think and how they feel. We burden ourselves and strive to measure up. We compare and contrast our lives against others and far too often we do this based on what we see on social media.

But whether it is that we are playing the comparison game or trying to live up to expectations, the outcome is stress on our lives. Stress and a false sense of fear.

This does not mean that we should not strive to be our best. To do our jobs or to set a standard (preferably biblical) to live by. These things we need to do.

But when fear is driven by stress, comparison and measuring ourselves against a worldly standard, we need to step back and consider our measure. We need to realize that if we are doing our best there is nothing to fear. We need to ask God for His help and work to live up to His measure.

In short, we need to make sure that we are living by God’s measure more than mans. It is then that we can let go of our fear and know that God is there to lead us. Remember His measure is eternity.
