4 Then a champion named Goliath, from Gath, came out from the Philistine camp. He was nine feet, nine inches tall (1 Samuel 17:4 CSB)
I am what most consider a big man at 6 foot 6. The few times I have encountered people taller than me I just gape in wonder at how tall they are. I rarely see myself as others see me in this way.
So it could be said that when you have a problem with me, you have a big problem.
Well, in our scripture, David was about to face off with an even bigger problem. One that even I would see as a big problem. Yet, if we read on we find that David slew that big problem with a small stone and a huge amount of faith!
Our problems often seem so much bigger than us. They loom over us and we often cower in their shadow. We feel small and not hardly up to the task of tackling them. We realize our stones are small (pun intended).
But we must have David’s other weapon which is a faith that is bigger than our problems. Namely, because our faith is in a God that is so much bigger than any problem that they pale in comparison.
When we take our stone (our actions no matter how small) and faith in God to overcome a problem, big things happen.
