11 Honest balances and scales are the Lord’s;
all the weights in the bag are his concern. (Proverbs 16:11 CSB)
I have a good friend who had his own business that he trusted to God fully and was very successful.
I took a different corporate path and while I have had some great success, it has been an often rocky road these last ten years or so.
I see that the difference between us is less about what we do for a living and more about who leads us down the path of that living.
Thus, our role in our occupation is to focus upon having honest balances and scales (to act with honesty and integrity). Because all fo the weights (our skills or what we do) are God’s concern.
My friend always trusted God. I, on the other hand, have many times worked myself ragged thinking it was all about me. How hard I worked, the role I played, the things I did.
I can tell you that your occupational dealings work better my friends way than mine.
Consider who owns your business.
