Intent on One Purpose

2 If, then, there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 make my joy complete by thinking the same way, having the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. (Philippians 2:1-2 CSB)

Can you imagine the outcome of everyone intent on one purpose?

Let’s pare that back, everyone is a tall order.

Maybe we could focus upon all Christians? Maybe all of a certain denomination? All of that denomination in one state? One city? One Church? One family?

It is right and we should pray for unity, it is a proper goal. But what, when we ourselves are double-minded, can we expect of such large groups?

If we were to simply get our local church thinking the same way, having the same love and being united in spirit, intent on one purpose we would be unstoppable.

But we must begin with ourselves, making sure that we are right minded and intent upon one purpose, God’s purpose. In this way we may hope to influence others by showing through our words and actions that we are, at least, one with God.

It is a start.
