Done Differently

23 Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, 24 knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ. (Colossians 3:23-24 CSB)

Think about everything you did yesterday and are planning to do today. How much of what you did yesterday did you do from the heart as if done for the Lord? How much have you put the Lord into your planning for today?

Well, if you ar like me…not much.

The days I am mindful of this scripture and begin each task with a brief prayer, things are just…smoother. Whether that is because I have begun a task at peace with what I am doing or that God helps me (which I am convinced He does), the day is just easier to accept.

Look, whether what we do is for family, a business or anyone else, it is doubtful we approach each task with a heart of thankfulness. No, we more often slog through each task, some easily because they are interesting but many not because we just have to get through them.

If we will but flip the script and work to say a prayer of thanks for each task, then do that task if for the Lord. When we do this we begin to dedicate our days more and more to God and less and less to us or to our task masters or simply getting the job done.

I believe firmly God takes a hand in each of these task when we do.
