Who Could Stand

3 Lord, if you kept an account of iniquities,
Lord, who could stand?
4 But with you there is forgiveness,
so that you may be revered. (Psalm 130:3-4 CSB)

It is a good thing that Christ salvation washed my sins. For truly, if not, I could not stand against all I have done wrong in life. Who could?

When we think about the past year and the coming year and consider all that has or will transpire, God’s forgiveness is paramount. Otherwise the burden of our past sin and the weight of what is to come would be overwhelming.

But God does not hold everything against us. Christ came to wash away all of our past and our future sins. Our job is to work toward being more Christ-like so that we, in hope, sin less.

Know there is nothing we can do through works, though, to right the wrong of sin. No, that can only be done through the blood of Christ.

Thus, as we walk into a new year we must thank God for the forgiveness of our sins and strive to be more than we have been.
