8 Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:8-9 CSB)
It may seem that God was very slow to answer prayer this last year. I have even heard some as, “Where is God” in this time.
But our perspective is so vastly limited that while God is moving we often cannot see what is really happening. In our impatience we focus on the minutes of the day but to God time is not a factor. God’s view of time and ours are so very different.
How much of what we go through in life is God being patient? Waiting for us to realize what we need to change so that we can become more like Christ?
My prayer as I begin this year is not to ask God to hurry up, but to ask God to help me slow down. To listen more and to focus fully upon His grace and mercy, all the while showing me my faults so I might resolve to be His anew.
