21 Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent,[a] humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. (James 1:21 CSB)

What does it mean to “humbly receive” something?

First, it means to receive with acceptance. To accept the thing we are being given as truth and sincerity.

Second, it means that we are being humble and understand that there may be more to what we are receiving. We are taking it with the belief that it will be of use to us and possibly others.

When we humbly receive the Word and it becomes implanted within us, what grows forth from that seed will reap a great harvest. It is not meant to remain dormant within us. It is meant to be shared.

The same can be said to the things God gives us throughout our lives. We will be judged by how we use all His gifts.
