9 Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to him. (2 Corinthians 5:9 CSB)
While I was never a stellar athlete I did play high school ball. I remember home and away games. The idea was that no matter where we were, we had to play a good game. Location did not matter.
While this scripture is speaking of home as Heaven, it has me in mind of how pleasing we are to God when we are at home (our homes) verses away.
Often times we have different persona’s we live at home, or work or when we are with friends. We “put on” the self we believe is ok or appropriate for the setting. We play a different game as it were.
But is this how we are to live?
No. We are called to live the same life, pleasing to God, no matter where we are or who we are with.
When we accept and believe, the Spirit comes into our lives, to reside within us. Thus, He is everpresent. There is no time when the Spirit is not there. He may turn away from our actions as he cannot be privi to sin, but make no mistake He is there.
Thus a pleasing life to God should be an action we take no matter where we are or who we are with.
