11 And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, (Ephesians 4:11-12 CSB)
Each of us has a role to fulfill in the body of the church.
Many want to avoid this and simply be fed, spiritually, by the church. Thus, the 80/20 rule is firmly in effect in many churches today. They struggle to find workers willing to volunteer their time and talents to fostering the local church. Many may say, “well I give to the church” and that too is needed. And some can only give due to infirmity.
But we were made to be more than just givers of our treasure. We were meant to be involved in the local church in many ways. Each of us is given a spiritual gift that we were meant to use. Building up of the church and equipping the saints may also be a work ouside the local church where we are building up the global body of Christ.
No matter where we serve, make no mistake, we were meant to serve. We were meant to stand firm in the faith, build up and equip one another.
