12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. (Ephesians 6:12 CSB)

Maybe it is time to revisit this scripture. A time in our nation where we may need help understanding exactly what we are struggling against. While our conflict seems to be squarely against one another, there are other darker forces at work within and around us. And they strive to stamp out the light.

I cannot watch what is going on in our land right now and not see the enemy’s handiwork. He is sowing discention and discord at every turn. He is working his rulers and authorities on this earth to keep us constantly at odds.

We must, at a time like this, when we have no power in ourselves it seems to lean upon the spiritual forces in heaven. God has won this battle and the enemy is chafing against that knowledge and trying to make God’s creation work against itself.

Do not succumb, but pray and know that the Spirit and angels do battle for us on all sides.
