Upside Down Rewards

28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28 CSB)

Our world has the value of service turned around. We applaud and shower money on those who play games, or those who are power brokers, those who act for a living.

While the true hero’s of our society, those who do the most for us work in obscurity.

We have our value system upside down.

Without the former we lose a bit of entertainment. But without the latter society in general breaks down. Critical services go undone.

Even in the corporate world we value those at the top fianancially for their positions of power. While the work truly gets done far below them. The company could exist better without the top layer than the bottom.

Will we ever get this right?

In Christ we are called to serve more than to be served. The first will be last and the last first. In heaven the reward system will be righted.
