16 Submit as free people, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but as God’s bond servants. (1 Peter 2:16 CSB)

In today’s world we see far too often people using their freedoms as a cover-up for evil.

Whether this is in the form of abuse of power, or position or simply because someone feels they are free to do as they please.

The reason we are governed by laws, be they governmental laws or moral laws is to keep the populace in check. However, especially now, people want to break down these laws and we see from this that they call evil good and good evil.

We should not use our freedoms to cover up our evils. This is especially true for the Christian who has had our sins atoned for once and for all in Christ. No, we more than the rest, should use our freedom in Christ to display our bond servant status to God. Our actions should provide a clear view of how the Spirit permeates our lives.
