Beaten Down

43 He rescued them many times,
but they continued to rebel deliberately
and were beaten down by their iniquity. (Psalm 106:43 CSB)

How many times do we say something like, “I am so beaten down.”

But, how often do we ask ourselves if we are the source of our own beat down?

We like to think that this feeling comes from outside influences, but more often than not it can be internal influences.

Do we continue to deliberately rebel against God? Are we continually in need of rescue based upon our own actions?

Maybe the source of our beaten state has more to do with us than we like to admit. Maybe our own iniquity (wrong behavior) is the source of our pain.

If so, then let us take stock and turn from our rebellious ways and open our lives go God’s gentle guidance.

Then maybe we can finish our days without feeling beaten down.
