Something out of the Ordinary

2 The Lord said to Joshua, “Look, I have handed Jericho, its king, and its best soldiers over to you. 3 March around the city with all the men of war, circling the city one time. Do this for six days. (Joshua 6:2-3 CSB)

Ok, look Joshua, yea, I said March around the city seven days and then blow horns. That will do the trick.

Have you ever been in a place where God seems to be directing you to do something that seems …. outlandish? Probably not, I think we have become too practical for us to accept odd guidance from the Spirit.

But what if that is exactly what we should be doing?

God’s ways are not our ways. We tend to look at the world through very practical and pragmatic eyes. Walking around Jericho, splitting the waters of the Red Sea, Manna from heaven, the dead rising; these are not things of our time.

But they once were. And while God may not be asking us something so profound as these, he may be asking us to totally trust in the face of all odds, and this may seem just as daunting.

Sometimes we just have to walk around the city and believe.
