10 Young lions[a] lack food and go hungry,
but those who seek the Lord
will not lack any good thing. (Psalm 34:10 CSB)
We often confuse anything with everything.
Our scripture today tells us that “if we will seek the Lord we will not lack any good thing”.
We expect a lot today from life. But life does not owe us anything. It is a common misnomer that we think we are are owed a good life.
Furthermore, once we believe we think that God is now going to grant our every wish. This too is not so. Our scripture is more focused on needs than wants. Yet we confuse want with need far too often.
God wants us to be able to sustain life and fulfill His plan. Additionally, I believe that God desires our comfort and our success. However, we play a big role in fulfilling all of these things. Too quickly, often due to the success God grants us, our “any good thing” can turn into “every good thing.”
Thus, we must guard that our material needs do not become materialistic.
