7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or his stature because I have rejected him. Humans do not see what the Lord sees,[a] for humans see what is visible,[b] but the Lord sees the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7 CSB)

When we look at others or situations we see only what is on the surface. We look at others appearance or social media and assume that they are living a much better life than we are. We see what someone has or the success they have achieved and presuppose they are powerful and well adjusted.

But rarely do we see just below the surface. Rarely do we see the discord, loneliness or other issues that plague others just like us.

The Lord sees the heart and understands that they are sinners just like us. People who need His love and mercy just as much as us

When we see below the surface we realize that they are the same kind of different as us.
