23 I know, Lord,
that a person’s way of life is not his own;
no one who walks determines his own steps.
24 Discipline me, Lord, but with justice—
not in your anger,
or you will reduce me to nothing. (Jeremiah 10:23-24 CSB)
Yet, sometimes we need to be reduced to nothing. When our path has not been one where we are listening to the Lord we often need it torn down first before we are open to moving forward.
Granted none of us want to feel the Lord’s anger and I think in our day and time He knows most of us cannot bear up under it. Unless he gives us the strength to bear up and helps with the development of His new path.
Our society does not want to consider being reduced in any measure much less to nothing. So God goes about it in different ways to direct us, often, more gently. Coaxing us in a new way.
We never want to do so much as to provoke the Lord’s anger, but we may need to be shoved strongly off our path so that we begin to follow His path.
