35 In every way I’ve shown you that it is necessary to help the weak by laboring like this and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, because he said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Acts 20:35 CSB)
Today being Christmas Day (Merry Christmas) we will spend it giving gifts and loving on each other. And while getting gifts is nice, there is blessing in giving. In fact the old adage “its the thought that counts” is truly the most important aspect.
We tend to use this phrase when we get a less than desirable gift. However, when we look at it from a scriptural aspect we can see that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
To be honest, when the newness of what we have been given fades, the sentiment of who gave it remains.
Thus, on this very special of days when we were given the most precious gift of all in Christ Jesus, it is more blessed to give than receive.
