12 For we don’t dare classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. But in measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves to themselves, they lack understanding. (2 Corinthians 10:12 CSB)

The world is all about comparisons. This is how marketing works. We begin to compare what we have with what others have or what the ad’s says we need and we consume more.

Furthermore, we tend to compare ourselves with those around us. Not often taking stock first in all that we have and all that God has made us to be.

Truly, I have met many a beautiful persons with everything money can by who is a total wreck. I have also met those with seemingly nothing who were jewels upon the earth.

Scripture tells us when we make these comparisons we lack understanding. Because we rarely take into account the richness of who we are and what our lives stand for when everything is stripped away.

Look to the essence of who you are and not what you have.
