31 So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ (Matthew 6:31 CSB)
This can be a most difficult scripture. These things are central to our survival along with “where will I stay”.
God is not telling us that we do not have to attend to these things but that it should not be central to our concerns. Scripture goes on to say “seek first the Kingdom of God”. Thus, He is saying is that our first priority should be to God then these things will be added to us.
The human condition puts survival and needs first. God is telling us to learn to rely upon Him and these things will be manifest in our lives.
This means that we must take a close stock of our lives and truly ask the question; “do we make everything sacred first”? Or do we make our wants paramount?
