The Power We Need

16 A king is not saved by a large army;
a warrior will not be rescued by great strength.
17 The horse is a false hope for safety;
it provides no escape by its great power. (Psalm 33:16-17 CSB)

I am a big man. 6’6”, 240 lbs and in sufficient shape for a man my age. Strength of will, body and character have been hallmarks of my life. Yet, it is all for naught. In the eyes of heaven is am less than a flee.

Scripture is trying to tell us here that nothing we have ever banked on, on this earth is enough.

This was written at a time when kings, armies, strong men and strong horses won the day. Today it might be written this way.

“A president or power with a great army and world power; a great man of industry with his success and power. Large homes, large bank accounts, or multi-million dollar investments, even great health provides no escape by its great power.”

Only God provides the power we need. Only He is sufficient and in our weakness He is strong.
