Weight of Thoughts

16 The Lord hates six things;
in fact, seven are detestable to him:
17 arrogant eyes, a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that plots wicked schemes,
feet eager to run to evil,
19 a lying witness who gives false testimony,
and one who stirs up trouble among brothers. (Proverbs 6:16-19 CSB)

This list seems pretty straight forward and are all things that we would naturally try to avoid. But when put in light of what Christ taught in the New Testament consider that each may be considered sinful when only a mental act.

Christ said that when these thoughts happen in our minds, even if we do not act on them, constitute sin.

Suddenly the list takes on completely different meaning. And we know that thoughts come before actions.

Consider the weight of your thoughts today.
