Too Well Liked

26 Woe to you when all people speak well of you (a) (Luke 6:26 CSB)

Consider being too well liked.

It would seem that we are taught in scripture to love everyone so it should come to pass that, if we are doing so, everyone would speak well of us.

But not so actually. Our belief and our faith, even our love, will be hated by some. We will be seen as divisive and intolerant, even as we strive to love everyone.

Everyone in this life will not like us. There will be those that think we are simply using faith or our spiritual life as a crutch. That we are trying to be something that, they believe, we are not.

If none oppose us, then we are probably not living and showing our faith as we should. That evidence in our life will cause some, hopefully only a few, to turn away from us and to speak poorly of us.

But if no one does….
