10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings you completely destroyed across the Jordan. 11 When we heard this, we lost heart, and everyone’s courage failed[a] because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below. (Joshua 2:10-11 CSB)
God is continually working for our good. Even in situations that seem bleak, God is going before us to pave the way for his will. This may not always seem so as our timing and his timing are rarely the same.
But know that God is working in everything.
In the scripture above, God had already “melted the hearts” (as stated in another translation) of the people of Jericho (the first town they had to conquer in the promised land). They had heard all that God had done delivering the Israelites from Egypt and how they had crushed the Amorites before crossing the Jordan.
God always, always is in everything before us even if we cannot see what is happening.
