Allies & Enemies

20 …If your enemy is hungry, feed him.
If he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
For in so doing
you will be heaping fiery coals on his head. (Romans 12:20 CSB)

We have two choices when it comes to others; develop allies or create enemies. Even people who would say they have no feeling one way or another, when pressed will take a side.

So why not repay our enemies with kindness and compassion?

When we do otherwise we only gives them power over us. By allowing another to create in us an angst or enmity we are giving in to our lesser selves. We are not reaching in to the Spirit within to help us grow and to show our true selves.

Furthermore, when we do so and show kindness in the face of opposition we find that it creates a space of contradiction. The wind dies in our enemy’s sails and often the fire goes out in their frustration against us. Even enemies become, at the very least neutral, and at the very best we create allies.
