What of Your Spirit?

29 He gives strength to the faint
and strengthens the powerless.
30 Youths may become faint and weary,
and young men stumble and fall,
31 but those who trust in the Lord
will renew their strength;
they will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not become weary,
they will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:29-31 CSB)

We run the gauntlet of our hectic weeks and stumble into the weekend physically and mentally exhausted. This is a common malady that we all become far to accoustomed.

So where is the Lord’s strength in times like these?

What this scripture is speaking to is not what should be the typical outcome of a busy work week. We should expect, if we are putting in a solid week, to have a solid week’s worth of fatigue. God expects us to work hard to show that we know him and can be trusted with much.

No, what this scripture speaks to is the Spiritually weak, tired and downtrodden. Those who think there is no place to turn. God wants us to understand He is always a place of rest for our souls. A place of strength and energy to do good works in His name.

I expect your body and mind are weak today, but what of your spirit?
