12 Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. (Exodus 20:12 CSB)

This verse is translated a number of ways. Here is is to have a long life, in others it says to have your days prolonged. This infers prospering.

However, our society only focuses upon the prosper part and not the long life part. We do not respect age nor the wisdom that comes with it.

I am slower to make decisions now and tend to put greater weight upon the outcome. When I was young and brash I would simply move froward quickly. Luckily, I made good decisions most of the time but I now value the wisdom that comes with my years and I leverage what I have learned.

On this Mother’s Day we need to take a moment and evaluate the wisdom our mothers (our parents) pass/passed on to us.
