Weary

29 He gives strength to the faint (weary)
and strengthens the powerless. (Isaiah 40:29 CSB)

It’s Friday and I am weary. It has been a long work week and I am ready for a few days of rest.

My energy by the end of the week is pretty low. Some of that is my age, but more of it is that I end up mentally and physically exhausted from a week of hard work. Now my work is mostly with my mind. I know many people come home bone weary at the end of each day for physical labor. My work is not like theirs and I am humbled by those who’s days are filled with physical labor.

But at times I wish for such physical weariness. I wish to end my day exhausted from an honest day’s labor. Not that mine is not an honest day. It just feels, somehow, less.

We all experience weariness in our own way. But God is a God of power and strength. He is there to hold us up when we feel that we cannot go on.
