12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Matthew 9:12-13 CSB)
The world is full of broken people. This does not mean it is full of useless people. God works through broken people. It is when we accept our brokenness and allow God in that things begin to improve.
Thus, we can come before God and others with our brokenness and still fulfill a purpose. We are all still worthy of mercy.
Our sacrifice comes after mercy is given. We then can reach out to our fellow broken and one who understands.
