12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. (Romans 6:12-13 NIV)

When we hear someone has been “instrumental” in an effort, we know that they were a large part of what was done.

When we let sin reign within us we become instruments of sin’s ends. The enemy can use us in many ways, whether that be through our thoughts, our actions or our intent. We were not brought out (bought with Christ blood) from this life to provide any avenue for the enemy to work.

This does not mean we will not sin, but it means we should not do so willingly, so that we become the enemy’s instrument.
