Doers

22 But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face[a] in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was. (James 1:22-24 CSB)

Being a doer, and not just a hearer, denotes someone willing to submit and get the job done. Whether this is in the business world or in our faith life, we tend to respect the doers over the hearers.

Being people who get the job done, go the extra mile and not consider work “beneath” us will gain a reputation of respect and admiration.

Those who only provide lip service to our request quickly get left behind by the doers. Our character shows in our actions over our words.

Thus, we strive to be doers of the Word and not just hearers.
