19 Furthermore, everyone to whom God has given riches and wealth, he has also allowed him to enjoy them, take his reward, and rejoice in his labor. This is a gift of God. Ecclesiastes 5:19 CSB)

Work can be hard and being told to rejoice in it can feel like a slap in the face. However, this is what we are encouraged to do. Our labor provides the wealth needed for us to be able to enjoy life.

We are constantly told to “find work that we love”, “follow our dreams”, and other platitudes. Yes, this is what we should strive for, but scripture tells us to rejoice in the labor we are given. Even when it may not be our dream.

Rejoicing in our labor will have a positive impact upon our state of mind and how we do our jobs. You may even find that you love what you do all over again.
